Hi there!
My name is AJ Yarwood and I am a huge outdoor and camping enthusiast. I have been fortunate to live close to the Rocky Mountains, where I have the opportunity to visit many of the great camping, hiking and backpacking trails that are available in the Canadian Rockies.
I remember my first camping trip, where we set up our campsite in Banff, Alberta.
To say we were unprepared is a gross understatement! All we had was our tent, sleeping bags, and a campfire… that night we were all shivering!!
My mom and sister ended up sleeping in the car, while my dad, my brothers and I “toughed” it out in the tent… not because we were “tough”, but there was no more room in the car 😂.
Despite all that, I loved every moment of it! And since then, I’ve been an outdoor enthusiast for more than 20 years now.
I know a lot more now, but that’s only because I’ve made so many mistakes, and I love to share my stories, knowledge and experiences with others.
My goal is to help others get outdoors, enjoy the mountains, camping, hiking, and enjoy life!
I realize there is a wide range of outdoor quality products on the market…
After testing dozens of brands and with the help of outdoor experts and enthusiasts, we finally managed to cut through most of the jargin and confusion, so you know what you need for your expedition.
As much as possible my team and I try to get our hands on the items mentioned in this blog to get real-life experience with them, but it is not always possible so we also rely on extensive online feedback from real customers of these items.
I also spend a lot of time in my local stores and talk to their staff to get to know all the items that come out and which ones may be of interest to you.
All in all, I want this site to be a place you can trust and that is not rigged by brand sponsorship so you can use our information to make the best decisions for yourself when it comes to planning your trips.
